Scope and ContentCampsie War Memorial was erected at the gateway to Campsie High Church following the First World War. The white sandstone memorial was designed by Paterson & Stoddart, architects of Glasgow. The official unveiling ceremony took place in May 1925.
The photo shows wreaths laid at the memorial and in the background there are no leaves on the trees. This suggests it may have been taken after an Armistice Day in November. The memorial itself looks relatively new. The building on the right of the photograph is the Lennox Arms Hotel which in the 1920s was owned by the Glasgow Public House Trust Company. The hotel was closed around 1999 and the building demolished.
