Archival historyThe Federation of Residents' Associations (New Kilpatrick) was composed of six associations: Bearsden Ratepayers' Association, Burnbrae Residents' Association, Hillfoot Residents' Association, Killermont Residents' Association, Mosshead Residents' Association and Westerton & District Ratepayers' Association. In 1961 the Bearsden Tenants' Association joined and it was decided to reconstitute the Federation as the Federation of Bearsden Ratepayers' Associations. Two representatives from each association attended Federation meetings, and the purpose of the Federation was to deal with those issues which could not be dealt with effectively by one or more individual associations. Castlehill & Bonnaughton Residents' Association joined the federation in 1963, and in 1974 Baljaffray Residents' Association joined, and the name of the Federation changed to the Federation of Bearsden Residents' Associations. The Federation was wound up c 1976 following the introduction of Community Councils under the Local Government Act 1975.
