Archival historyThe papers were rescued from destruction by Douglas Kirk, an employee of British Rail, and are held by him. This accession contains photocopies of part of these papers (the correspondence of the Monkland Railways Managers B B Reed 1851-1855 and Joseph Cochran, 1855-), used by Don Martin in his research for his publication The Monkland & Kirkintilloch and Associated Railways (1995). As the papers are held in private hands, Don copied many of the papers before returning the originals to Mr Kirk.
