Admin history/BiographySt Joseph's School for Catholic children was opened in 1873 in Woodlands Street, Milngavie. At that time, approximately 50-65 pupils regularly attended the school. Teaching was carried out by Notre Dame Sisters from Ladywood. During World War II evacuee children from Clydebank attended the school, and the school was used as a rest centre. In 1961 the new St Joseph's School opened in Craigdhu Road with around 230 pupils. In 2018 the school merged with St Andrew's Primary in Bearsden, and a newly built school, St Nicholas' Primary, was opened on the former St Andrew's school site.
