TitleLong case 'Reform' clock
Creator Thomas Steel
Description8 day long case 'Reform' clock by Thomas Steel of Kirkintilloch with painted face and dial. Thomas Steel is recorded in 1837 as having a shop in Kirkintilloch High Street. The painted crescent section is a Biblical reference (probably) to Isaiah 11:6 - "And the wolf will dwell with the lamb. And the leopard will lie down with the kid. And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together. And a little boy will lead them." The four portraits are of Charles Grey (Prime Minister), John Russell, Lord Brougham and Lord Althorp.
