TitlePart of My Studio Mantel
Creator Robert Lillie
DescriptionThis oil painting shows an arrangement of objects within the artist's studio. Flowers in a glass vase, porcelain figurines, an urn and desktop calendar. Several of these are seen with Lillie's other paintings, and in photographs of his studio.
In the background a dark flat surface can be seen with relief motifs. These appear to be sections of a set of the miniature casts created by Paisley artist John Henning of the Parthenon frieze.
The slender figurine to the right of the vase of flowers has text at the base reading 'London Scottish'. This identified it as a bisque figurine made by Schafer & Vater in Germany c.1910. The elongated figure wears plaid, kilt, sporran and carries an umbrella. The company were known for their comical and unusual designs
