DescriptionIn 1838, the Grand Caledonian Curling Club was instituted for the purpose “of regulating the ancient Scottish game of Curling by general laws”. By 1842 this new national club had sought and obtained royal patronage, and was then known as The Royal Caledonian Curling Club. [ see https://www.scottishcurling.org/curling-history/history-of-the-game/ ] Historically there have been many curling locations within the area now East Dunbartonshire, as well as several clubs.
