DescriptionThis 19th century kitchen tool is called a bottle-jack (due to its shape) or a meat-jack (also called roasting jack or spit jack), and was used for rotating meat on a spit to cook it more evenly. It has a clockwork motor in a cylinder with an octagonal base, hanging loop at top and hook for meat below. This one was made in Birmingham
