TitleWashing dolly or posser
DescriptionWashing dollies like this were used to do your laundry until the mid-20th century. Clothing or textiles to be washed would be put in a large tub filled with hot water and soap flakes, and the washing dolly would be plunged down & up in the water to loosen the dirt on the fabrics. The holes in the head of the dolly allowed for water to move through it creating suction to agitate the water. Using this to wash your laundry was a laborious task but improved on the clean of the clothing compared to earlier methods.
