Title'Kirkin' Dress
Description'Kirkin' Dress. Black with high white lace collar. Black lace jabot edged with chiffon. Belt at waist with diamante buckle. Lace at cuffs. Full length sleaves. Full length skirt with ruffle at knee height. Waist shaped panel below waist. 16 decorative buttons down from from waist to knee. Stitched below knee meaning the wearer has to step into it. 14 popper fastenings down front from collar to knee. 3 hook and eye fastenings at collar. Lined at top of sleaves.
Altered in 1930. There is a frill some 22cm deep at the front of the dress which shows obvious signs that the dress has been altered.
