DescriptionCommunion Token from Free Saint David's Church, Kirkintilloch. Oblong with cut corners outline. Obverse: 'Free St. David's Church, Kirkintilloch, 1845. This Do In Remembrance Of Me, 1. Cor. XI. 24'. Reverse: A view of the burning bush with text above: 'Free Church of Scotland' and banner below: 'Nec Tamen Consumebatur'. 'Crawford'. 'Glasgow'.
The motto of the Church of Scotland is 'Nec Tamen Consumebatur' (Latin) - 'Yet it was not consumed'.
This token is known to have travelled from Kirkintilloch to U.S.A. back to U.K. then to Australia then finally returning to Kirkintilloch. (The donor paid £10 for it).
