TitleThomas Muir Commemorative Neckerchief
DescriptionCream square of fabric with black printed pattern. Pattern is a border with spots and with 5 ovals with depictions of men with their name and sentence above (William Skirving, Joseph Gerrald, Thomas Fishepalmer, Maurice Margarot and Thomas Muir) The is a rectangular panel with the text 'TRANSPORTED FOR SEDITION' at the top and another at the bottom with 'A View of Botany Bay'. Hemmed neatly at edge.
This is a reproduction of an 18th century neckerchief, thought to have been made in Scotland following the sentencing of the 5 men depicted. The reproduction was produced for an exhibition at the National Library of Scotland in 1988 which marked 200 years since the arrival of the first British convict ship and the founding of the colony of New South Wales in Australia.
