Description

SS 'Fairy Queen' I, at Hillhead Bridge, Kirkintilloch. In 1893 James Aitken began a high-profile service of summertime-only pleasure cruises from Port Dundas. This is the first 'Fairy Queen' steamer, which was operated by Aitken on the canal from 1893 until 1897, when it was superseded by a slightly larger steamer of the same name.
