Description

North British Locomotive Company engine number 891 pictured on the Monkland and Kirkintilloch line with railway workers, c. 1898. This railway line, opened in 1826, was one of the first 'proper' railways in Scotland. The line skirted Lenzie passing by Craigenbay, Garngaber and Middlemuir on its way to the canal at Kirkintilloch.
