Description

Kenmure House, built by Charles Stirling shortly after purchasing the lands in 1806. The design was from the plans of the well known architect David Hamilton. Stirling resided at Kenmure until 1816 when he sold the estate to his brother Archibald Stirling. Upon his death in 1822, Stirling was succeeded to the estate and title by his son Sir William Stirling Maxwell.
