Kirkintilloch Road

Kirkintilloch Road, Lenzie, view looking north, c.1912. The road from Lenzie Station to Kirkintilloch was an important route from 1842 onwards and was quickly built up. Unfortunately there were problems with obtaining the necessary land for widening the road and it remained narrower than intended. The narrowness of the road is evidenced by the location of telegraph poles in villa gardens, as seen in this view.
