SS Gipsy Queen

SS 'Gipsy Queen' approaching Kirkintilloch from the west. Pleasure steamer operated by James Aitken from 1905 until 1939. Built in Paisley, she was the largest and last of Aitken's canal passenger steamers. Between 1893 and 1939 Aitken, and later his son George, operated a total of five steamers on the Canal - three \'Fairy Queens\' (at different times), the \'May Queen\' (1903-1912) and the 'Gipsy Queen\' (1905-1939).
