Description

Rankin Bros Albion bus on the Glasgow to Drymen route at Bearsden Cross at the junctions of Roman Road, Drymen Road and Thorn Road. The war memorial to the left of the photo was erected in 1924. The format of the number plate on the bus - two letters and four numbers - was used for vehicles registered between 1903 and the mid 1930s. The school is pictured in the background. The New Kilpatrick Public School was built in 1910/11. This was renamed Bearsden Academy in 1920, although it continued to offer both primary and secondary departments. In 1958 a new secondary school was built in Morven Road, Bearsden and this building became used solely for the primary department and was renamed Bearsden Primary School.
