Colonel James Alexander Reid

Description

Colonel James Alexander Reid, born in Ceylon in 1845 and moved to Scotland in 1851. He worked in several Glasgow law firms as a conveyancing clerk before becoming a partner in McGrigor, Donald & Co Glasgow. He was also the Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer of the 1st L.V.R in 1890, and he would often open the grounds of Mugdock Castle where he resided to hold field day manoeuvres for the regiment.
