Description

Women working in the West of Scotland Laundry at Clober Road Milngavie. In its heyday the laundry was the largest and most successful concern of its kind operating on the outskirts of Glasgow. In 1882 it was reckoned to be one of the best equipped laundries in Scotland with all the latest machinery at that time. There were up to 200 people employed at the works at any one time and this contributed to the growth of the residential development of the area.
