Description

Interior of the West of Scotland Laundry, Clober Road, operated by Joseph K. Fairlie and Robert Learmont, both Provosts of Milngavie. At its peak the firm employed 200 people and received washing from 16 shops in Glasgow. It had a fleet of vans and carts and the services they advertised were not only laundering but also dyeing, dry cleaning, carpet beating, renovating, and repairing upholstered furniture. The laundry stopped trading after the Second World War.
