Description

William R Hunter, MBE, JP, Provost of Milngavie from 1936-1939. William Hunter was born 1871 in Ferniegair Lanarkshire. His business interests involved the Meat Market and he was Meat Trade Supervisor for Scotland between 1918- 1920. He assisted in establishing the 1st Bn. City of Glasgow Cadets in 1915 holding the post of Captain and then later Major. He lived at Auchencairn, Glasgow Road, Milngavie and he enjoyed bowling, golf and curling.
