Description

Robert Crawford was the first Provost of Milngavie 1875-1876. Born and brought up in Milngavie, he started out as an engraver in the Calico Print Works. He was involved as an Elder and Manager of the United Presbyterian Church (Cairns Church), and was a correspondent for the Lennox Herald, which at the time, had been the only local newspaper. He left Milngavie shortly after his duty as Provost moving to Glasgow.
