Description

Joseph K Fairlie was Provost of Milngavie 1901-1903. He owned the West of Scotland Laundry in Milngavie with Robert Learmont. He became the Provost early on in his service with the council. During his time on the Town Council he took a special interest in environmental improvement. At the time of his death in 1933 the "Milngavie and Bearsden Herald" described him as the "Pioneer of Modern Milngavie" because, along with Robert Learmont he had introduced the modern type of working-class dwelling-house in Milngavie when he built the rows of houses in Clober Road.
