Description

Dr John Reid was Provost of Milnagvie from 1906-1909. Dr John Reid's period of office as Provost was said to be a time of prosperity for Milngavie, with progress in the new sewage scheme, the registration of streets and the rapid increase in population. Lennox Park was laid out in ground gifted by Ripley Ker. When Dr Reid retired from the Provostship in 1909 he was presented with a fine silk hat and hat case, and his wife with an umbrella, as a mark of respect. He was a keen photographer, played the violin and was a talented painter.
