Admin history/BiographyMr Chalmers was a junior manager at the South Bank Iron Works. The foundry was originally called the Star Foundry (founded 1861) but was purchased in 1867 by Cameron & Roberton who renamed it South Bank Iron Works. In 1956 Cameron and Roberton joined Federated Foundries, this was taken over by Allied Foundries in 1965, and that company then joined Glynwed Foundries Ltd in 1969. The iron works on Southbank Road closed in 1981. Mr Chalmers donated this material in October 1994.
