Archival historyWilliam McEachen was a Kirkintilloch postman and member of the South UF Church. In 1903 whilst on his postal round, he saved the life of John Cooper, a child who was drowning in the Forth & Clyde Canal, for which act he was awarded an Honorary Testimonial by the Royal Humane Society. He died a few years later, leaving a widow and one child.
