Admin history/BiographyCharles Goodwin was born on 16 September 1858, the son of John Goodwin, a Carter, and Jean Jarvie. He married Mary Buchanan Blair on 29 December 1882, at which time he was described as an Iron Moulder. By 1891 he was a Coal Merchant and his business appears to have been successful, as by 1901 he was living on his own means. The 1901 census shows him having five children: John, Charles, Robert, Mary and James. He died on 20 March 1920. Over his lifetime Charles Goodwin lived in various properties in West High Street and Kerr Street, Kirkintilloch. His son, Robert was born on 22 March 1888. Robert became a butcher, and on 28 June 1916 he married Elizabeth Sinclair of Milton of Campsie.
