Admin history/BiographyThere has been a school in existence on the site at School Lane from at least the early 1800s. The building consisted of one room for over 100 primary age pupils and a second room for infant pupils.
The Education (Scotland) Act 1872 relieved the managers of responsibility for the school, which was handed over to the Campsie School Board. The school was variously called the Lennoxtown New Subscription Public School, the Lennoxtown Combination Public School and the Lennoxtown Central Public School.
In 1896 a new school was built on site, expanding to seven classrooms for 458 pupils and was renamed the Lennoxtown Public School. It later also served as a junior secondary for Lennoxtown and the surrounding area and concentrated on domestic and technical subjects. In 1953 those wishing to study languages or progress to senior secondary were bussed to Kilsyth. In 1963, its status changed to that of a primary school and all secondary pupils travelled to Kilsyth Academy.
As of 2016 the primary school had 133 pupils and 12 teachers.
