Archival historyThe first meeting of the Milngavie and Bearsden Historical Society took place on Monday 13th January, 1975 at Kilmardinny House, Bearsden. The Society continues to meet once a month from October to March for lectures and also organises summer excursions and trips to sites of historic interest. Magnus Magnusson was a Patron of the Society from 1975 to his death in 2007. His daughter, Sally Magnusson, succeeded him as Patron. The Society formed a Local History Working Group to carry out research into the history of the Milngavie and Bearsden area including local farms and organisations. They were also involved in an exhibition of local history at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie in 2007.
