Archival historyCalico printing was introduced to Campsie Parish in the late 18th century with the opening of the first printworks in the area at Kincaid in Milton of Campsie. This photograph shows staff from the Lennoxmill printworks on an outing to White Bridge, Lennoxtown. Lennoxmill, on Station Road, Lennoxtown, was a significant local employer and the closure of the works in 1929 affected many families. Handwritten notes which accompany the two photographs give names of those pictured, and also refer to the group as 'The Merry Party'.
