Letter from Wm Coutts to Father which mentions that "It seems pretty certain that men who enlisted after 1/1/16 are to be kept for the Army of Occupation. My only hope of escape is that the L&L have applied for me"- is hoping "ferverently" that they have. Says he is "not enlisting for 5 minutes longer than I can possibly help. Patriotism that swelled in my bosom has fled".
